Resumen

Kanata is a large, planned west-end suburb largely created by developer Bill Teron starting in the 1960s, on land that was previously part of the rural Township of March. Its name comes from a Huron-Iroquois word meaning "meeting place," reflecting Teron's original vision of blending residential neighbourhoods with commercial and employment land rather than building a pure bedroom community. That plan succeeded commercially: Kanata is now home to Canada's largest business technology park and earned the nickname "Silicon Valley North" after attracting major tech employers, alongside distinct residential areas like Kanata Lakes, Glen Cairn, Emerald Meadows, and Morgan's Grant.
