Resumen

Sandy Hill lies just east of downtown, bordered by the Rideau Canal on one side and the Rideau River on the other, and takes its name from the sandy, hilly ground it sits on. Once one of Ottawa's wealthiest residential areas in the late 19th century, it is now an eclectic mix of embassies (many clustered near the river in what's known as Embassy Row), heritage homes, student housing, and co-op housing anchored by the University of Ottawa campus on its western edge. Character changes noticeably block by block, from quiet embassy streets to the livelier, younger blocks near the university.
