Barrhaven
Sud

Aperçu
Barrhaven is a large suburb about 17 km southwest of downtown, part of the former City of Nepean before it joined Ottawa in 2001. Modern development began in the 1960s when Mel Barr, for whom the community is named, turned a farm he had originally bought for a horse-racing track into housing; it has grown into one of Ottawa's largest suburbs, with big-box retail complexes along Strandherd Drive and easy access to the Greenbelt, the Rideau River, and the Jock River. It remains popular with families looking for post-1960s suburban homes with more space than the central city offers.
