Clarence-Rockland is a separate municipality on the Ottawa River about 35 km east of Ottawa, formed in 1998 through the amalgamation of the City of Rockland and the Township of Clarence. It began as a 19th-century lumber town — William C. Edwards built a mill here in 1868 that once employed over a thousand people — and today it is a bilingual, primarily francophone community of roughly 25,000 residents spread across several distinct villages along the riverbank. The Ottawa River offers boating and fishing, and the Larose Forest borders the community to the south.

Clarence-Rockland is reached from Ottawa via Highway 174 and local roads; it is outside OC Transpo's service area, so a car is generally needed to travel to and from Ottawa. Check the City of Clarence-Rockland's own website for any local transit options.
